Dr. JR Salinas (DMD)
Dr. JR Salinas is back in his community as he grew up in the Maples/Garden City area. He was born in the Philippines and moved to Winnipeg when he was 2 years old. He completed a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Winnipeg before pursuing dentistry at the University of Manitoba.
During dental school, Dr. JR was involved in many extracurricular activities and while in his 4th year, he became the president of the University of Manitoba Student association. Dr. JR has also received awards such as the Dr. Norman Levine Undergraduate Dental Student award in pediatric dentistry, the Emerging Leader award, the Dr. H.H. Saunderson Award and the Mary Jane Ego trophy.
Dr. JR values time with his patients and loves getting to know them on a personal level. He believes that every patient is different and requires personalized patient care. He loves the dental profession and his main goal is to provide comfort to patients while maintaining high quality dentistry.
Along with his passion for dentistry, Dr. JR likes to play soccer, go to the gym, cook, travel and spend time with his family and friends. He can also speak and understand Tagalog. Dr. JR is super excited to be back in the area he grew up in and looks forward to giving back to his community!
Dr. Kian Somarin (DMD)
Dr. Kian Somarin spent most of his childhood in Brandon, Manitoba. He graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of Science and later from the University of Manitoba with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He is fluent in both English and Farsi.
Dr. Kian loves interacting with his patients and seeing how he can provide them with the best dental care and address all of their concerns. He is known for his calm, kind and outgoing demeanor and loves all aspects of dentistry.
Dr. Kian is an avid traveller - next time you see him in the office, make sure to ask him about his recent travels!
Dr. Americo Fernandes (DMD)
If you have been coming to this clinic, you might know who Dr. Fernandes is as he has been the long-time owner of Dr. Fernandes Family Dentistry and Implant Center.
Dr. Fernandes graduated from the University of Manitoba College of Dentistry in 1984 and has been practicing dentistry ever since. He has a specialized interest in implant dentistry and has been the trailblazer for dental implants here in Manitoba.
Dr. Fernandes has always prioritized his patients and takes pride in making lifelong relationships. Since he has been practicing, he has seen families from grandparents all the way to their grandchildren. This just goes to show how well he takes care of his patients and how important his relationships are.
In addition to dentistry, Dr. Fernandes frequently travels back to his home country of Portugal so make sure you ask him about his travels. His favourite sport is soccer and his favourite team is FC Porto so make sure you wear an FC Porto jersey when you visit him! He is also fluent in English and Portuguese.
